It's Clear Local Officials don't want Transparency

We now see the light -- local governments in Texas don't really want transparency. Texas Comptroller Susan Combs offered her agencies' services to local governments. She said she offered to send someone to the county, city or school district to help them get their checkbook register online inexpensively. And did everyone come running for the assistance?

Nope.

Seems only one city -- Tyler -- has its spending online. And only 10 of 254 counties have their data online.

Comptroller Combs has surmised that local government officials really don't want taxpayers to know how their money is being spent.

More to come, but read Will Lutz' blog on the Lone Star Report: http://www.lonestarreport.org/Management/BlogManagement/tabid/62/EntryId/234/Local-government-We-don-t-need-no-stinkin-transparency-part-one.aspx

We'll see what role the Texas Municipal League and Texas Association of Counties in playing in promoting transparency...stay tuned!

Texan wins award; Erik Telford Speaks at RightOnLine

Event organizer Erik Telford recognized two people. Texan Melissa Clouthier received the Al Gore award for excellence. www.MelissaClouthier.com
Check it out at:
Since Al Gore invented the Internet.

Rachael Alexander from Arizona was also recognized. This enthusaism is sweeping the nation. She has trained citizens to get more effective online and more engaged. She received the Activist of the Year Award.

Tanked the sponsors. Kessler, Malkin and Joe the Plummer will be doing book signings.

Exiting the room, I overheard one attendee sayhing "This is just more fun than should be legal." Trust us, if th can, Obama would make RightOnline illegal!!!

Michelle Malkin speaking at RightOnLine in Pittsburg

Americans for Prosperity Foundation's RightOnLine conference, Michelle Malkin speaks. She has the No 1 Bestseller - hit the bestseller list in 9 days.

Joined the BrooksBrothersClad EvilMongers...promises not to take calls on her IPhone while speaking.

Last year at RightOnLine in Austin, TX, we were fighting off attacks from Wesley Clark for our exposing Obama's mythis of hope and change. The NutRoots gathered a stone's throw away from here is waging war on all the watchdogs left in Washingotn and attempting to redefine citizen dissent as hatred. Our work is is rooted in liberty and prosperity for all.

they have unlimited rousources to do it - with our tax dolalrs. But they have killed hope and change, that is the inconvenient truth.

Legions of voters for Obama were duped. This comes from the NYT website comments IS OBAMA PUNKING US? Welcome to the Right Wing Freak Club.

Michelle wenton The View and has the clip on HotAir on how ill armed andill prepared Joy was in response to the book. You know you won the argument if they are quibbling on how corruptObama is and not whether.

As government grows, corruption flows. Massive new fed spending and thousands of pages of new regulationsno one has read provide opportuniities for sleaze and influence-peddling. Not even Obama can drain a swamp by flooding it.

The tea party movment has been declared dead, but newcomers to politics have taken to the streets since February and their numbers continue to grow. They wanted you gone - silenced and out of signt - marginalized, demonized, but you have shown the spine and reslience missing from so many leaders in Washington.

YOU have siezed control over the domestic policy debate in this country. Don't worry about tallying how many are at the NutRoots conference - is the White House worrying about them or YOU? You have siezed control. You have gained the upper hand - you are holding Democrats and Republicans accountable.

On the WH healthcare takeover plan, you have Congressional leaders hiding in SIEU offices, taking sanctuary in children's hospitals, phoning it in rather than facing their constituents, charging $25 to attend townhalls, bringing in fake doctors, pimping Organizing for American stooges -- but we are astroturfed? ha!

Podcasters, bloggers, and online activists are invaluable. That this was from the top down is laughable. The leadership only wishes they could be as competent and insightful. The Soros funded folks didn't envision the invisible hand in the marketplace. It is a miracle we all have this shared experience and shared passion. We are so under threat by this White House - we are across the country, living our lives, raising our kids, wanting to ensure liberty for future generations. WE get up again and again. We are happy warriors.

We have been told to "rebrand" ourselves. We've been told we aren't using the Internet enough - but your videos on YouTube are playing all over cable TV all day every day now. The rise in taxpayer convergency that newspapers refus=e to review conservative books.

Watching the success of the book - seeing people practice knowledge is power and sunlight is the best disinfectant.

Spent an entire career -- 17 years -- watch those on both sides of the aisle to "tone it down" (like you) to conduct ourselves docily. We cannot afford moderation. We have nothing to apologize for - ever.

(standing ovation and cheers - a real crowd pleaser, Michelle struck a cord with these online activists!!!)

WSJ's Stephen Moore speaking at RightOnLIne

Congratulated bloggers have derailed the Obama Agenda.

Moore said he was on Chris Matthews on MSNBC (who watches that???) and Matthews said that Americans attending town halls "don't want a Black President." Amazing - how the opposiion has it so wrong! Biden is White and he is an even worse leader than Obama. That's not racism. We should turn in the entier Obama Administration to cash for clunkers.

Are we funded by corporate America? Nope - the K Street lobbyists are SUPPORTING ObamaCare.

Three pillars of evil:

GLOBAL WARMING is a hoax...it is not just evil but conttrary to what has made America great. Even if climate change were a problem, the Cap and Trade bill will have ZERO impact on the climate - it is the full employment act for India and China. Moore said the Cap and Trade bill would regulate and tax every activity of our free market activity, as factories, plants and facilities will move from the US to China. All the rest of the world agrees on, we want the US to go first on the so-called climate change regulations. BTW, polar bears numbered 25,000 in 1950 and now 50,000.

Financial child abuse is what is going on in Washington via the debt we have taken on. We have taken on more debt in a few months than in the past 20 years...3 trillion dollars to "rescue" the economy. We could have completely eliminated the corporate and income tax for a year. Imagine that - that would have been rocket fuel for our economy. Instead, we are purchasing new cars for bureaucrats.

A trillion is the new "billion." in the 1960's it was the "millions of dollars." The numbers are so big people cannot relate.

A trillion dollars - now much is it? How many seasons would James need to play 25,000 seasons at $40 million to make a trillion.

The House Ways and Means Committee passed bill imposes a 10% payroll tax on each worker for those at companies that don't provide health care. Can small business afford that? No - you will lay off workers...those in D.C. don't have their tray tables in an upright and locked position. The vast majority of them ahave never run a business. The bill also imposes a new 5% payroll tax on those evil people "the rich". Two-thirds of those are small business owners and employ people.

We must end class warfare. We are back in the 1970's where we had double digit inflation, 20% interest rates, long gasoline lines.

The next 8 weeks are the most critical period for our contry in a generation - we must defeat cap and trade, health care "reform" and bailouts.

In the President's Secret Service author speaks at RightOnLine

Ronald Kessler, MewsMax.comand #3 on the bestseller list author, is speaking at RightOnLine.

A blogger revealed CBS's misinformation on Bush's military papers.

Back in the 1970's Kessler as a WSJ and Washington Post reporter and said the pressure was to be fair, honest and get it right. Not today.

Though Kessler said the Washington Post is more credible, and the NYT is continuing to slide. NewsMax provides balanced stories but ones you don't see in the mainstream media.

NewsMax covered Rev. Wright and Obama's relationship. Wright was a mentor.

His book claims Carter was the phoniest Preisdent...he would carry his own luggage (which was empty) or would hand it off to staff when out of camera view.

said bloggers to a job to create a more honest media.

Ed Morrissey speaks at RightOnLine

HotAir.com's Ed Morrissey said Americans for Prosperity should be like "swimmers who get wet."

Americans and democracy are for prosperity. It is not an accident. Our founding fathers talked about rights.

Morrissey (who is bald) said it is "hair raising" what the Left is doing to deny Americans the unalienable rights...

It was about lifting the individual above the state, not the state above the individual.

The first right mentioned in the Constitution isn't speech (that is the second) - the first is in Article 1, section 8 - it is property rights. That article also limits the power of Congress.

In the Bill of Rights, speech is first, and perhaps Hoyer and Pelosi should get copies of the Bill of Rights. No rights confiscate from others.

We have the best medical system in the world. Food and watheraren't rights if it is confiscated fromm others...we have no rights to ccnfiscate or take from others.

Health care reform is all about confiscation and will lose why we are prosperous.

John Peterson, former Congressional membrer from PA

Peterson spoking at RightOnLine said the cost of oil sucked the life out of many energies last year. Many leaders haven't had a priority for energy. Why? It was cheap. We'd get a spike - it would settle down, and last year the price of oil crippled our economy.

Last year, we had the votes to win and they pulled the bill...they pulled the Interior bill. They didn't have the votes.

Obama Administration's plan doesn't make sense. They are doinng more with regulations...they have cancelled leases in Alaska and other states. We aren't reading about it in the paper.

Federal land is 30% of the country and they don't want to cut trees...(appropriate Peterson talks about this after Lonegan pointed out the size of the Cap and Trade legislation and the Health Care bills - thousands of pages, thousands of trees...)

If the EPA controls energy, domestic energy production will end. Carbon tax legislation gives citizens the opportunity to sue if they think they are harmed by climate change. Has anyone said that? Nope - but it is in the Cap and Trade bill. go figure!!!

We won't have available, affordable energy which is the mothers' milk of our economy. If we don't drill, OPEC will!

Steve Lonegan speaks at RightOnLine

Steve -- leader at AFP NJ -- tells his story. He is legally blind, worked hard, defied those who wanted him to go on welfare and disability. He prospered thanks to his hard work. He saw more inspectors, government intrusions into his business, and found foreign products didn't have those impediments.

He ran for Governor of NJ and narrowly lost his primary bid.

He is living the American dream and his is the American story!

Steve held up the 11,000 page bill which is the blueprint for our future healthcare.

Steve said the Left has conjured up the global warming bill to regulate our energy use - and he held up the 15,000-page cap and trade bill. They will spend more time and money protecting polar bears (which are not actually endangered) than they will on your health and health care.

By cornering the marketplace, the enemies of free market can drive more jobs overseas and control the "marketplace". What is behind this massive legislation? At the core of any climate control legislation is the redistribution of your wealth (remember during the campaign Obama's answer to Joe the Plumber.)

Losing is not an option. Email is the musket of today's revolution. Twitter, blog, and use new media each a nd every day. We must get up each morning and ask what we are going to do today against the big government collectivists.

Meeting the needs of all will deteriorate into totalitarism.

PoliticsDaily.com's Lewis speaks at RightOnLine

Politics Daily.com's Matt Lewis

said the audience was not 21st Century Online Community Organizers.

conservatives have bene demoralized by the Left but that is changeing. Those at NetRootsNation they are terrified by us...we are now talk radio, the blogs, we are kicking their buts. They will ratchet things up - it will get interesting. But we can turn things around in 2009 and 2010.

Communists teach that demoralizing and mocking opponents is part of their agenda. Bloggers are effective because we don't live in Washington, D.C.

He encouraged bloggers to get the tools, always learn more - go to connferences, read books. get phones that allow us to Tweet, get networked with other bloggers, take photos from our cameras...get the tools and stay plugged in.

Stay principled. The Bush Administration coopted many so-called conservatives. don't become part of the system. Remain an inddpendent voice that shoots straight with the American people.

Get the facts. Don't be sloppy. We keep the mainstream media honest - bloggers often fact check. stay aggressive and be on the offense. Thanks to AFP, to you for being here - keep up the fight.

You are making a difference, we are changing public opinion, right at home wearing our slippers - keep it up!

Phil Kerpen addresses RightOnLine

Kerpen is Policy Director for AFP and columnist.

Our numbers are up, NetRootsNation numbers are down - we have the momentum on our side.

We at AFP didn't manufacture anger. George Sorus, who funds the Left, has a manufactured memo claiming that we are manufacturing "grassroots." They are demeaning real Americans who are concerned about the Left trying to control our lives.

The Stimulus bill money is slow going out as it is politicized.

We are doing a great job attacking the public option (as we know that is socialized medicine)...and if they take the public option out, it won't e socialist but will be Facist. Government can contrtol it even if it isn't a public plan.

We are also winning on Cap and Trade - four Senate members don't want a vote this year, 9 Democrats don't want Wall Street to benefit - they are fractured... but they 210 to 212 squeaked the House vote. We need Senators aaying to leadership - sorry, but I can't do that in our state.

Are we an industry front? No - industry has carved on these bills. The White House has bought off 85% of the permits to get it passed in the House.

On health care, when the public potion is out, we will be forced to buy industry prducts financed with our tax dollars. MSNBC talks about industry groups behind us - but drug companies are advertising on MSNBC, and the reports just don't get it.

Kerpen also talked about censorship of the Internet - new version HR 3458 is a regulation of the Internet which kills private investment. Do we want the government running the Internet? we must protect our freedom on the INternet.

Hold firm on Health Care and on Cap and Trade - we can defeat the Left.

Pinkerton gives Tall Message to Activists at RightOnLine

Jim Pinkerton, Fox News Contributor and former Reagan policy guy, just spoke at RightOnLine in Pittsburg, PA.

Jim Pinkerton – said thanks to Americans for Prosperity, the movement is more effective and getting better online. The country is watching us on CSPAN…

I’ll start my talk with two answers --- 6’9” and no, I did not play basketball.

Fox is under fire now – the effort to boycott Glenn Beck is only a part of it. Fox is Obama’s greatest source of pain in the media.

Fox can work with the online media. The power of cable news, of events, of grassroots has had a huge effect this summer.

Fox isn’t conservative – it just looks conservative compared to the rest of the media.

Major Garrett has a major story now in the questions he has asked at the White House (about the WH email list).

By 39-49% margin, Americans oppose the health care plan. We were behind over 30 points recently, now up 15 points. That’s huge. If we keep it up, we win.

More people in this room have read the healthcare bill than have Congress.

Norquist addresses RightOnLine

Grover Norquist, author of LEAVE US ALONE, and head of Americans for Tax Reform, spoke nest at RightOnLine in Pittsburg.

We support liberty, more freedom and our coalition holds together because we are there around the table because the issue that moves their vote -- they want the Federal Government to leave them alone!

Good line: NRA members don’t ask for "gun stamps" or promote books in school "Heather has Two Hunters"...we all want to be left alone!

Grover, a movement leader, moves the crowd with his humor and simple message...leave us alone.

We are up against the "takings table" who want freedom to be taken from us. (Folks like the $90,000 a year bureaucrats managing food stamps who don’t want them to get jobs or the bureaucrat will lose theirs.)

The Left is made up of competing parasites, not comrades -- if we don’t let them gnaw on us, they will just as cheerfully go after the guy next to them.

Our team didn't get depressed and go home after the election -- tea parties happened, grassroots activism happened; we avoided the mistake we made in 1996 and 1998 when we focused too much on Bill Clinton's personal failings. They were sad and sad for his family. His agenda was what conservatives should have been focused on, according to Grover.

If Big Gov't were a martini, Obama is just the vermouth...let's focus on what is important.

Radio Talk Show Host Glen Meakem addresses RightOnLine

Glen Meakem referred to to the individual who asked Sen. Specter about the specific page in the healthcare bill about the end of life counseling.

Specter who said he would have voted for the bill said he could NOT vote for end of life counseling. He was put on the record.

Imagine our relatives having to go to mandatory end of life counseling with a bureaucrat every 5 years...not private. That's 55,000 sessions a day - how many bureaucrats would be needed to hold those sessions? It would be a paper-chase, and an incredible violation of our privacy.

the man at that townhall put a new focus on this aspect of the bill. Now they crawled all over each other, because one mantook the time to read the bill even when elected officials siad they didn't have time to read the bill.

We must insist that all bills be posted online for all to see - the result will be shorter, fewer bills, fewer Earmarks and the result will e better public policy.

Aug 6, just over a week ago, Obama spoke to his followers in VA, he said they had work to do. I don't want the folks to do a lot of talking...we need them out of the way so we can "clean up the mess."

So he thinks Americans created the mess? No - the Community Reinvestment Act backed by a cadre of liberals and socialists. And it is our right "to petition the government for grievances" and it is the President's responsiblitiy to take into account All Americans' concerns.

Obama said "no Earmarks" - then 8,000; then he said he doesn't support a single-payer health care system, then he claims now he didn't say that and this isn't a single payer plan. Obama doesn't know where the truth ends and lies begin. (could it be when he opens his mouth?)

Courage, candor, competence are neede for leadership in the heat of battle. We need leaders of positive leaders - does Obama have character? competence? (the crowd said "NO!!!")

we must take Aerica back, Meakem said.

Mike Pence sends message to RightOnLine conference

Cong. Mike Pence

passed $780B, topped off by a trillion-dollar budget, proposing a healthcare package taxpayer-funded abortion, and more.

We are here in Pittsburg to sharpen our tools, much more work is to be done. we need to put people back to work and to hold this Administration accountable.

there is not a moment to lose, as we need to boost our success online.

Erick Erickson, RedState.com addresses RightOnLine

Erick Erickson is speaking now at AFP Foundation's RightOnLine conference in Pittsburg, PA.

Obama ishelping create jobs for gravediggers.

Get to know the people in our movement - we are in this together and it is a fight. together we can and will win.

The Left is organizing boycots against Glenn Beck and if they succeed, they will be embolden to go after others. They call us Astroturfers - they are funded and bused in by Unions are the "real activists" according to the Media, Congress, Obama.

But the majority of the country is with us...we are CHANGE, not Obama. We can change the country again.

After the tea parties, we need a coup - of the political parties. How many of you then after the tea parties became a precinct chairman? Many precincts have NO pct chairmen. If you take over the precincts, then the counties, then the states, then the national parties - they promise home and change. If the Republicans get swept into office, it will not be because they did things right, but because the otherr side LOST. Take them back - become the local political party. We have two good parties int his coutry, take them over - then we take back Washington and we keep it.

WSJ"s John Fund addresses RightOnLine

Now, John Fund is speaking at RightOnLine. He said he'd also been visiting the liberal NetRootsNation conference across the river here in Pittsburg.

There is one major difference, he said -- the mood at RightOnLine is much more optimistic.

Liberals know they may lose between 50-60 House seats, and if 60 is hit - Nancy Pelosi becomes MINORITY leader.

Liberals camapain as moderates, but govern as liberals -- they always move Left. As Ronald Reagan said, when those in office govern from the Left, they lose. They have now lost touch, and the American people are revolting.

Remember what Carter brought us -- in 1980, Ronald Reagan was able to come back: a recesssion is when your neighbor loses his job, a depression is when you lose your job, and a recovery is when Jimmy Carter loses his job.

Now, John Fund predicts that conservatives will win mid-term elections.

This year, he said Obama co-opted all the health care providers -- insurance companies, AMA, etc. They have a seat at the table -- but they are there to BE LUNCH!

Americans are the people who have risen up and stopped the healthcare plan so far -- real Americans are given voice and have the opportunity to stop ObamaCare. Citizens are the new leaders who can and will bring about change.

in 1997, in 1993, and now - Americans can stop the march to bigger government in its track. We have the chance to defend the country and can turn to our children and grandchildren to say "we were a new great generation - we stopped Big Government in its tracks."

what a gift for future generations!

Joe the Plumber at RightOnLine in Pittsburg

Joe Wurzelbacher (Joe the Plumber)is speaking now at the AFP Foundation RightOnLine Conference in Pittsburg. He is a voice of the patriotic, conservative American who wants our country back on track. He wants accountability, responsibility, education and the Constitution.

Hold our elected officials accountable. We are held accountable by our clients and our boses -- while government is spending billions - now trillions -- and we have the responsibility to hold them accountable.

Education is a parent's job, not government's.

The Constitution is black and white - not a "living document" subject to interpretation.

Read my lips: No new hips

Here at the RightOnLine blogger conference at the Sheraton in Pittsburg in a healthcare session. Speaker Eric Singer, discussing the rationing which is taking place in Canada and other countries, anticipates President Obama's next radio address proclaiming "Read my lips - if you are over 57, no new hips." That's right. Precisely what is happening in countries which have government-run healthcare.

Mind you, the Administration doesn't want to be bogged down in the details. That's simple since the Senate version isn't even available -- though the committee voted for it weeks ago. After all, the U.S. Senate isn't accountable to you and me, the mere taxpayers and voters.

And since Obama won't sign a plan which will increase the deficit, should we worry? That provides a huge laugh line for the HandsOffMyHealthCare bus tour. Who knew Obama would provide such rich fodder for icebreakers?

Why can't we test the government plan? Perhaps on Congressmen and their staff, and why not include federal workers? These folks should e delighted to test drive the government plan and get back to us on it.

Radical Leftists are infiltrating RightOnLine

Lee Fang is a 22 year-old political hack paid to attack conservatives. The sources of his funding has been reported to be George Soros. He has no credible political or policy credentials.

He has registered for the conservative RightOnLine conference being held now in Pittsburg opposite the ultra-liberal DailyKos, NetrootsNation conference.

His ONLY job is to attack mainstream Americans and conservative public policies. http://www.verumserum.com/?p=7649

These liberal political operatives are insignificant except when the mainstream media gives them the credibility they haven't earned, but have like cockroaches, turned up to spread crap. They are political losers, and part of the Left's war machine competing with mainstream Americans.

Texas' good credit rating improves, thanks to leadership

Texas continues to outperform the country…Texas’ credit rating improves

Texas created more jobs than any other state last year (70% of the jobs created in the U.S. were in Texas), is the number one exporting state, the top state for businesses to relocate, has the most Fortune 500 Companies, has been rating #1 for transparency, has more wind generation than any other state, on and on. Now our good credit rating has improved.

Standard & Poors has raised Texas Issuer Credit and General Obligation Ratings 'AA+' from 'AA' on continued diversifying economy S&P raised its issuer credit rating (ICR) and general obligation (GO) rating on Texas to 'AA+' from 'AA' based on the state's continued economic diversification, and expectation that state officials and policy makers will remain committed to the maintenance of an adequate level of reserves in the Economic Stabilization Fund (rainy day fund).

"The ratings continue to reflect our opinion of the state's large and steadily diversifying economy, which despite the recession continues to perform better than the nation in terms of both economic activity and employment."

This doesn't happen without leadership.

Washington, D.C. should look to Texas for answers on how to improve the economy and grow jobs.

You won’t see Texas enacting a global warming tax or attempting to socialize medicine. Is anyone in Washington, D.C. paying attention?

Obamacare advocates wonder why citizens are angry?

Here the White House blog accuses folks like Americans for Prosperity of spreading “scary emails” and miscommunications about the Obamacare socialized medicine:

http://www.whitehouse.gov/blog/Facts-Are-Stubborn-Things/

AFP had a response: http://www.joinpatientsfirst.com/

But the best response is also on AFP’s website from single-payer advocates. http://www.kewego.com/video/iLyROoafM2iz.html is the most frightening video – with single-payer officials (Obama and his team) talking about wanting to put private insurance out of business and ending up with a single-payer (government) plan.

Obama said two things: first, that every American should have the Cadillac plan that Congress has. But Congress is exempted from Obamacare.

And recently, Obama is saying “if you like your current health care plan, you can keep it”. That is disingenuous as Obamacare is intended to drive the private market out of business so we are ALL on the gov’t plan.

No, Obamacare, this is by your own minions’ admission a strategy for getting there – to a single-payer/government-run socialized healthcare plan for Americans.

And they wonder why citizens are showing up a townhall meetings angry?

Read the bill? Conyers No Can Do

"I love these members that get up and say 'READ THE BILL.' What good is reading the bill if it's a thousand pages, and you don't have two days and two lawyers to find out what it means after you've read the bill?"

-- Rep. John Conyers (D-MI)

Conservatives are RightOnline in Pittsburg Aug 14-15

Conservative Columnist & Best-Selling Author Michelle Malkin will be joining an already powerful lineup of speakers, including: The Wall Street Journal’s Steve Moore and John Fund, taxpayer activist Joe the Plumber, former Congressmen Pat Toomey and John Peterson, Americans for Tax Reform’s Grover Norquist, RedState.com’s Erick Erickson, Fox News Contributor Jim Pinkerton, PoliticsDaily’s Matt Lewis, NewsMax.com’s Ronald Kessler, radio host R.J. Last year, more than 600 activists attended our first ever RightOnline Conference in Austin, last summer (sponsored by AFP Texas). It was the first event on our side to ever counter the leftwing Netroots Nation Convention (formerly known as YearlyKos), an annual gathering of what the media called the most concentrated gathering of high-profile liberal bloggers to date. Please visit www.RightOnline.com and take the next step towards taking back our country.

Senator Arlen “the defector” Specter has just announced that he’ll be speaking at the rival liberal Yearly Kos / Netroots Nation Convention. With the national political media descending on Pittsburgh to cover the Right vs. Left clash of these two events, it is more important than ever that we band together at RightOnline in a massive show of force on behalf of our shared conservative principles.

Duncanville Has 2 Tax Increase Hearings - at 8:30 a.m.

The Duncanville City Council's budget workshops to discuss how to patch a $1 million deficit are scheduled for Thursday and Friday at 8:30 a.m. (hint: they want to raise taxes)

From The Ellis County Observer:

There are two workshop meetings scheduled: one on Thursday, August 6, 2009 at 8:30 a.m. and the other on Friday, August 7, at 8:30 a.m. both will be at the library. I am not sure if this is an error but both workshops have the following items on the agenda: Call the city to verify which is definitely the date. I cannot believe that they will discuss the exact same thing on both mornings.

1. Discuss proposed budget FY 09-10

2. Consider calling a public hearing on August 18, 2009 on a tax increase due to the fact the proposed tax rate will exceed the rollback rate or the effective tax rate, whichever is
lower.

Seniors: Be Afraid, very afraid...

Senior Citizens Should Fear ObamaCare

One of our leading Texas Bloggers, Mr. Conservative written by Dr. Donald May of Lubbock, TX, writes all you need to know. He writes: It is the seniors that really fear the Obama health care plan. After working hard and saving for a good and comfortable retirement, senior citizens do not take kindly to the prospect of being denied life saving medications or procedures because some bureaucrats think they are not worth the money for the treatment. Read it here:
http://blogs.lubbockonline.com/conservative/2009/07/30/senior-citizens-are-especially-afraid-of-obamacare/
