ObamaCare will bankrupt our country

According to one recent estimate, Obamacare will add more than $500 billion to the deficit over the next 10 years and $1.5 trillion in the decade following.

Remember how President Barack Obama promised that his health care plan would reduce the deficit and put us on a path towards fiscal responsibility? Remember how Congress kept gaming the system to come up with the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) score that could justify those claims? Well, now that Obamacare has become (hopefully only temporarily) the law of the land, the CBO is singing a slightly different tune. Last Friday CBO Director Doug Elmendorf wrote on his blog:
The central challenge is straightforward and stark: The rising costs of health care will put tremendous pressure on the federal budget during the next few decades and beyond.

The Heritage Foundation has some startling information worth a read:

ObamaCare: It’s voodoo economics, corrupt, dishonest and shameful

Ten inconvenient truths about Obamacare:

Here are 10 inconvenient truths that could dog the President as he attempts to sell his health care plan to the country:

1. The cost of coverage will rise for the middle class: A family earning $100,000 would end up spending nearly a quarter of their net income on health care.

2. Health insurance premiums will go up for nearly half of Americans: 57% get subsidized while 43% pay higher costs.

3. Health reform is unlikely to create new jobs: new taxes would kill 690,000 jobs per year.

4. Federal funding may cover abortion: The president cannot amend a bill by issuing an order, and the federal courts will enforce what the law says

5. Four million people will lose their employer-based plans due to federal mandates – and those will be forced to go on the new government plan.

6. Medicare will cut services along with costs…to the tune of $528 billion.

7. The bill will not pay for itself because eliminating the “doctor fix” which they will enact later – at a cost of $209 billion, makes the 10-yr deficit exceed $560 billion.

8. Higher Medicaid costs will gradually shift to the states…phased in but mandated!

9. Doctor shortages could lead to rationing…46% said they would quit or retire.

10. The bill raises taxes for many individuals and businesses…as much as 40%!

ObamaCare is middle-class tax hike which unions are exempted

It stinks, but it looks like unions are getting their rich benefits plans exempted from the proposed tax on higher-dollar health insurance plans. Even so, lefty orgs like the Campaign for America's Future are messaging against a "middle-class health tax" -- not exactly what Dems want their people to be saying! The fact is, it stinks to high heaven. More corruption, leaving average taxpayers holding the bag.

National Journal's CongressDaily reported:

Unions Tentatively Strike A Deal Regarding Excise Tax

Unions tentatively struck a deal Tuesday to exempt collectively bargained healthcare plans from a tax on high-cost plans expected to be used to help raise revenue for the healthcare overhaul.

AFL-CIO President Richard Trumka, Service Employees International Union President Andy Stern and United Auto Workers President Ron Gettelfinger met with House Speaker Pelosi Tuesday, a day after labor leaders met at the White House to express their opposition to the excise tax.
